2014 Quilts

2014  Leake's Ties 1  50 X 54

A friend wanted to know if I could do anything with his father's ties. I didn't tell him what I was going to do with them, but I made this wall hanging for him as a memorial to this father. Since he has two children, I made these two mini quilts for them.

2014  Leake's Ties 2&3 20 X 25 each

2014 Juliana's Snow Man 39 X 72

Since Juliana likes snowmen, I couldn't resist ordering the kit when I saw this advertised. I turned out to be much harder to make than I anticipated.

2014 Snow Man Head  33 X 34

Since I had some fabric left over, I had to make this small quilt by adding a few extra fabrics.

2014 Twisted 11 X 12

This is the little sample I made while learning the technique for the twisted pattern.

2014 Bike From The Bay To Brush Mountain

The challenge was to make a quilt depicting Virginia and cycling in anticipation of the 2015 bike event in Richmond. This is my interpretation although some of the bicycles are hard to see in the mountains.

2013 Whirligigs

 2013 Whirligig-1 49 X 62
I think the black binding is just right for this colorful quilt.

2013 Whirligig-2 48 X 50
OK! So I had some fabric left over. Of course I had to make another quilt out of it.

2013 Kitchen Cabinet Quilts

2013 Whimsical Spring 10 X 25
I have lots of quilts handing in my house, but I realized there was nothing hanging on the end of the kitchen cabinet. This one just fit.

2013 Summer Time 12 X 25
This is another quilt for the kitchen cabinet.

2013 Tall Tree 13 X 30

2013 Summer Still Life & Sam's Valentine

 2013 Summer Still Life 80 X 82
Its hard to see in the photo, but this quilt has three dimensional flowers and triangles.

2013 Sam's Valentine 21 X 52
I think a quilted table runner is better than a card.

2013 Scrappy On Point

 2013 Scrappy On Point 1 50 X 50
Remind me never again to make a quilt with the blocks on point. All that bias makes quilting difficult. If you look carefully, you can see that I added a chicken family to this one since my family had a small chicken business when I was growing up.

2013 Scrappy On Point 2 50 X 50
One of my jobs was to chop off the heads of the chickens to prepare them to sell to a local store.

2013 Potpourri

 2013 Potpourri-2 48 X 60
I added a couple of Volkswagen's to this one in memory of one of our first cars. It became a challenge for a family of five to go on trips in that car.
 2013 Potpourri-1 48 X 48
These next two quilts are known as liberated quilts. They are just sewn together without a pattern. I had to add a couple of cats to this one just to add a little interest.
2013 Potpourri-3 39 X 50

2013 Life & Dance

2013 Life & Dance 12 X 13
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass...
Its about learning to dance in the rain.

2013 Gaelic Blessings

 2013 Gaelic Blessing-1 12 X 15
I love making these little quilts to give away.

2013 Gaelic Blessing-2 21 X 15

2013 Gaelic Blessing-3 21 X 15

2013 Fusique

2013 Fusique Black 15 X 42

 2013 Fusique Green 15 X 42 -
The applique on this quilt was cut out of the "2013 Fusique Black"

2013 Fireworks Flag

2013 Fireworks Flag 21 X 21

2013 Fall Skinnie

2013 Fall Skinnie 1 12 X 28                                                                               2013 Fall Skinnie 2 12 X 28
Since a friend wanted the first Fall Skinnie that I made, I had to make another one for myself

2013 Every Bloomin Thing

2013 Every Bloomin Thing 39 X 44

2013 Enchanted

2013 Enchanted 48 X 60
Since a friend in the Sewing Guild asked for this quilt before I had photographed, I took a picture of her holding it.

2013 Cut Flowers

2013 Cut Flowers 52 X 74

2013 Christmas Table Runners

 2013 Christmas Table Runner 1 15 X 50

2013 Christmas Table Runner 2 15 X 50

2013 Broderie Perse Trucks

 2013 Broderie Perse Trucks 56 X 62
A friend wanted a quilt with trucks so I found a pattern and fabric that seemed just right
2013 Broderie Perse Trucks Table Runner 15 X 45
This was a practice piece to see if I could do applique on the longarm quilter.
